Locs in Royse City, TX: Where to Go Without Driving Back to Dallas
The drive nobody talks about
If you moved to Royse City, Fate, or Caddo Mills in the last few years, you probably brought a routine with you. A loctician in Dallas, Garland, Rowlett, or Mesquite who knows your hair. Someone you trust enough to keep driving back to.
And so every four to six weeks you give up most of a Saturday. Forty-five minutes out on I-30, three to five hours in the chair, forty-five minutes back. Add a stop for food and the appointment eats the whole day.
That calculation made sense when there was nothing closer. It is starting not to.
Why this area was underserved
Royse City's population is somewhere around 31,000 as of 2026. In 2020 it was under 14,000. That is more than double in six years, one of the faster growth rates in Texas.
Loc specialists did not move out here at the same pace. Search booking platforms for locticians in Royse City and you will find a handful. Search Rockwall and you will find a couple dozen. Search Garland and you will find sixty-plus.
So a lot of people in eastern Rockwall County and western Hunt County are in the same position: new neighborhood, same old drive.
What The Body Emporium does
We are a loc and scalp care studio now serving Royse City and the surrounding communities, including Fate, Rockwall, Caddo Mills, Union Valley, Josephine, Nevada, and the Greenville and Terrell corridors.
Starter locs, by comb coil, two-strand twist, or interlocking. Retwists with palm rolling or interlocking. Micro loc installation and maintenance. Loc extensions and reattachment. Loc detox for buildup. Color on locs, single and double process. Braids, including knotless and box braids. Sew-ins and silk wraps.
Our full service menu with prices is on the booking page. We publish our prices, which in this market is less common than it should be.
If you are starting locs for the first time
Book a consultation before you book an install. It is the single best thing you can do, and ours is free.
A consultation lets us look at your hair's density, length, and texture, talk through the method that fits your goals and your maintenance tolerance, and give you a real price and a real time estimate instead of a range off a website. Starting locs is a multi-year commitment. Thirty minutes of planning is worth it.
It also means your install day is not the day you discover the style you wanted takes eight hours and you have to be somewhere at four.
If you are transferring from another loctician
Bring information. Specifically: how your locs were started, how they have been maintained, whether anyone has used wax on them, how long since your last retwist, and anything you have been told about your scalp.
That is not a test. Different maintenance methods leave your locs in different conditions, and interlocked locs behave differently from palm-rolled ones. Knowing the history means we work with what you have rather than guessing.
If you have photos from earlier in your loc journey, bring those too.
What to expect on timing
Loc work takes longer than most salon appointments, and anyone who tells you otherwise is managing your expectations badly.
A standard retwist usually runs two to three hours depending on length and loc count. Starter locs run two to four hours. Micro loc installation is a long appointment, often most of a day, and sometimes split across sessions. Maintenance on micro locs runs several hours because of the sheer number of locs.
We schedule realistically rather than optimistically. You will not be double-booked, and we would rather quote you four hours and finish in three than the reverse.
Booking
Appointments can be booked online through our booking page, where every service shows its price and estimated time. New clients starting locs or transferring from another stylist should start with the free consultation.
If you are in Royse City, Fate, Rockwall, Caddo Mills, Greenville, Terrell, or anywhere in that corridor, you are close enough that your retwist should not cost you a whole Saturday anymore.
